Istanbul, August 27th 2012

I can't hold myself not to show off some more pics during my ride on Istanbul City Hop-on Hop-off Tour Bus which I had been constantly mentioning in previous posts.

This is the rough route I had taken. It's just to give you the picture of my day trip. I started from Topkapi and made first stop at Taksim Square. Next stop, Edirnekapi. And then back to Topkapi for The Grand Bazaar which was nearby. Bosphorus separates Asia and Europe. Golden Horn is an inlet of the Bosphorus dividing the city of Istanbul and forming the natural harbor that has sheltered Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman and other ships for thousands of years.

The scene shots in random:
This view brought my mind back to Kampong Ayer in Brunei.

What a lovely beach park by the side of Marmara Sea.

In Istanbul, so many name of places ends with 'kapı' which means 'gate' in Turkish. The city walls from the old days explains that.

When I returned to my hotel, I asked the friendly front desk staff, "I have to go to Yenikapı tomorrow. How do I get there from here?"

She answered, "We are in Yenikapı."

"Oh. Where is the harbor? I need to take the Ido Ferry."

"Just walk straight to the left and you'll find the harbor on the right."

"How far is it?"

"About 5 minutes walk."

Great. Bursa, I'm coming!
